Four Amigos: Snow Geese on Wascana Lake

Every spring and fall, thousands of Snow Geese fly over Regina, SK, on their way north to the Arctic to breed.

This year, four have landed to spend the summer in Wascana Park, where they can be seen on and around Spruce Island, and other parts of the park.

I don't know why they stayed... Maybe one was hurt? Maybe they all realized that the picking here were good.

Whatever the reason, they seem relatively tame, and it was fun to see them up close, and to try for detailed pictures showing their feathers and faces — especially that gaping black "grin patch" (All About Birds) on their stubby pink bills.
