Yellow-bellied Sapsucker: bright red throat and head

Always seems strange to me that the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker's most arresting markings — its throat and head — are not yellow at all, but red. And yes, I know, this name distinguishes them from other kinds of Sapsuckers. But still...

Somewhere on the belly of this bird, there are yellow feathers.
